Olmec

Olmec Claro

Mexican San Andres has grown considerably over the past two decades. Nicholas Melillo has been credited with being integral in this change. An exchange program with Nicaragua was created and the Mexican farmers adopted a new fermentation process, smaller pilones and longer fermentation times. This allowed the natural oils to remain and thus giving the tobacco more flavor.

We use a lower priming Mexican San Andres for the wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and bale cured filler. This blend will provide a pleasant smoking experience with notes of espresso, cedar & cacao.

Olmec Maduro

The San Andres Valley rises 4,000 feet along the Gulf of Mexico. Its naturally cooler climate, abundance of fresh running water, humid breezes and its volcano-enriched soil, make the Valley one of the best places on Earth for growing cigar tobacco. The result is a thick and elastic leaf that is often used for both binder and wrapper. Yet, because it can withstand high fermentation temperatures,, it also makes a marvelous Maduro wrapper.

On this blend, we use a higher priming leaf San Andres wrapper that is aged, 2 ½ – 3 years. We use a Nicaraguan binder and bale cured filler also from Nicaragua.
